  • Volvo has made an FH version electric

  • If we still not have new battery technology.. This problem will become bottleneck and destroy electric vehicle altogether.. One car need to wait 30-40 minutes to charge imagine everyone use electric.. The waiting line will be long...

  • Yup, it is pretty cool. Electrified trucks are going to make a big difference for emissions and air pollution!

  • Trucks of a feather, charge together. hehe nice

  • truckers need to make 45 minute brakes anyway so no problem to need to top off the battery

  • Nice truck sir

  • Electric commercial trucks only make sense when they never need charging on the road during shift hours. Range must be sufficient to only need charging overnight at the building the truck runs out of. The reasons for this are obvious. The example seen in this video is curious because what company is going to pay a driver to wait for long periods sitting at a charging station? And the idea of being forced to combine lunch break with charging the company's truck isn't going to fly with a lot of drivers.

  • Anyone knows about the BYD T10zt E truck? Published 2018 in China, 435 kwh battery, 15 tons of load capacity, 0~100% charge within 120 minutes, but the range of it is about 280 km only(full loaded)

  • Dear Bjorn, Thank you for your videos! The power is 33,5 kWh / 0,25 h = 134 kW (rawly)... Isn´t it? Best Regards!

  • So ugly inside... and they want to compete with tesla upcoming trucks? 🤣🤭🤭🤭🤭

    • Inside? You are lost. These are working trucks made for working in cold dirty construction operations. It's about get dirt moved from A to B, not a place/cab to invite your girlfriend for a date)

  • I worked for Scania 15 years ago. In that time, the R-Series arrived the market and i thought about range with hydrogen engines or electric ones. Interesting to see Volvo in norway with E-Trucks 👍🏻

  • 1:28 "This car is cold gating little bit" :DD

  • The "vibrator" is for the dump bed to help free materials that would otherwise stick in the truck.

    • Definetely wrong word

  • I mean, you can't be mad at this. Lol.

  • Cool. Next time, wear your mask!

  • The tare weight including the empty container would be nice to know. Knowing that would make the difference between weather it's actually a productive truck or it's just greenwashing for the public

  • Don't know how anyone is turning a profit doing bulk with a 26 tomner

  • Ev truck paradise oh man i like these trucks they can steer the rear wheels too would live to drive One of those machines

  • 0:01 Toyota electric van charging on the left! Do you plant to review it? Toyota ProAce will ace the banana box test! especially the long version

  • the biggest issue is really just battery capacity. i can't see any other real downsides to electric vehicles. why do you think most modern trains are electric?

  • This illustrates the same problem Bjørn experienced with the VW Crafter, Too short charging cables to reach the connecting point on the side. So the truckdriver has to pull up too tight to the charger and angle their trucks to shorten the distance. Why isn't any of the larger vehicle-manyfacturers aware of this problem? It's no problem to intergrate the connecting point on the car/van/truck into the front of the vehicle. The cables cant be any longer because then it lays on the ground and get run over, so that is not an option.

    • Scania's small electric truck (also operating in Oslo) has the charge port at the front corner chargedevs.com/newswire/scania-introduces-range-of-electric-trucks/

  • I want a van or a wagon EV in the US but there arent any

  • Toyota has an EV van?, ProAce?? We need to know more!

    • One of the best selling EVs in Norway this year

  • Nothing wrong with the UK virus😛 . Will they build a dedicated truck charging area do you think?

  • Both the trucks from Wilhelmsen need to wash off their plates and tail lights, cause as they were standing in the video, they were illegal to drive, due to covered tail lights and license plate, due to muck not being washed off. That's one of the real bad downsides of all that salt they throw on our road "to make it safe".

  • Very cool. Norway is leading the way of electrification of vehicles fleet. Circle K should just have extended the length of the charging Cable. So the trucks can park properly at charging stations. Despite that many of the Trucker companies will get their own charges at the companies location.

  • Of course we liked your video

  • My parents don't like EVs and they would just become more opposed to them if they watched this video.

  • It will be great to see the Volvo E truck closeup and get a view from the owner, on how they find the function compared to the diesel trucks. Norway is really going for the electric trucks and I hope we change all the buses into electric too. It is way cheaper to run and own, so it is really a no brainer. The only issue may be that the charging stations are mostly made for smaller cars.

  • Lol at 0:51 I was a little bit confused because I thought that the guy in the yellow was standing on the left

  • If you put a LARGE DIESEL generator on there to keep the battery charging you would have something then.

  • Frggin cool. How do the drivers like driving them ? Do they have transmissions or are they direct drive ?

    • Probably not direct drive, but it's probably just one gear.

  • Well, that escalated quickly

  • Wow

  • Do the full suite of tests! 1000 km challenge! -26 camping trip! 120 km/h winter range test! Plus a test with Kris Rifa to compare to the Model 3!

  • Can you do some reviews on curent electic trucks?

  • Electric trucks in the winter? Other countries: too expensive! not enough range! what about charging! impossible! Norway: yeah, let's do it!

    • It's easy to think like that when Norway is an oil country and 5,3 million population also those trucks are only for local and not long range.

  • Are you also planning to test the Toyota Proace electric witch was charging between MCH and the truck? Nice van to convert it into an electric campervan.

  • Awesome hahahaha, take a truck Bjorn! Hahaha

  • My thought: this is going to sell a lot of Tesla’s! If these trucks with thirsty batteries are going to sometimes block 2 chargers because they are so big and the cord is not long enough.... I am willing to pay a lot more to access the truck/delivery van - free Tesla Supercharger network.

  • Range test by 80 km/hour.

  • More truck action please!

  • Well, for a truck that weighs much more that 10 tons, 200kwh is still very little, unless you want to use the trucks on a small route between two near locations. I think with the specific pack of 200 kwh they can drive up to 250km (about 145 miles) which depends on the workload of it as well. Also, Tesla promises a range of 300 to 500 miles on their Semi trucks so I hope that that range was estimated with a trailer attached. 😃

    • The original Tesla Semi numbers are for a max capacity loaded truck. Elon has mentioned the numbers will be better so expect something like 600+ miles of range when they start deliveries this year. Everyone apparently grossly overestimates the energy requirements for a properly designed electric truck. In the end it’s only about drag and rolling resistance. Trucks drive at 90km/h so that helps a lot with drag compared to cars and rolling resistance depends massively on the tires, bearings and grease/oil. Regen takes care of the rest. The mass itself doesn’t really matter much, only in the sense that it impacts rolling resistance and maxing out regen capability.

    • For most small truck routes, 200km would be long. They’re mainly around the city.

    • it can usually carry about 20 tons so total weight is over 30 tons

  • You need to do a banana box test on one of those!!

  • Yep Pui

  • vibrator :-) ah ah ah but you are super, your car is the first, you know the trick!

  • Wow that looks like it can become a real problem if companies start buying a lot of trucks and need to charge on regular puplic chargers that are already busy. The Truck Manufactures such as Volvo/Scania/Man need to take responsibility and build chargers specific for Trucks/Semis! otherwise it will become charging hell with long waiting times and possible accidents!!! But good to know that the company owner of the trucks is taking responsibility and installing their own fast chargers! that should also be a requirement to buy a truck/semi!

  • I get a little paranoid with a big sized car parking next to me let alone a truck!

  • Hej Björn, concerning the 200 kWh Battery: Cargo Gross weight ist what you get paid for as a transport business , so you have to keep the battery weight low to get your earnings high. You shold calculate your battery size that you can get 80-90% of all your jobs done with one battery charge per day. For the other 10-20 % you need to top up your truck at a public charging station. As we electric truck operators grow every day, there will be a growing need of public charging stations capable for charging trucks in the future. Best regards from Hamburg/Germany HajoR small transports with electric van as early as August 2017 serving northern Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, see my channel on NOlong

  • Will Ferrell has another problem on his hands now.

    • You could fit even the new electric Hummer in the dumper of one of these trucks!

  • When Bjørn is excited, it makes me excited..

  • If they don't start building a lot of chargers there are going to be a lot of angry people. It probably takes 20 times as long to charge a car over fill with gas. And just look at the number of gas pumps around. It would take 20 times as many fast chargers as gas pumps if all cars were EVs

    • Exactly.... and not only it, everyday start to be more expensive to charge....

  • Wow, You are right, It's cool! In the future the petrol/diesel pumps are going to be replaced by chargers. Maybe starting 2022 in Norway?

  • 186mi range but I wonder how it handles heat with load on for long periods.

  • That’s cool! Can you get a Banana Box test with one of those... just joking.

  • Great stuff. We need to electrify as many commercial vehicles as we can. Do a range test👍

  • i mean good trucks finally electric better green

  • Oh and when you said Circle K, I thought you were kidding...guess not, lol!

  • excellent, good to see. Well done to your country showing the world how it all can be done.

  • Great video! And it makes more sense to repurpose what we already have vehicle wise then to put out all of these Jetson looking ones.

  • We are waiting for the Range Test, Geilo test and Banana Box test for these trucks now....🤣 And as long as these trucks dont start hogging the Tesla Super Charger network you should not complain. You have a descent alternative charger network with your car, these trucks and many other people do not....

  • It's amazing to see that work vehicles are steadily being replaced by fully electric ones. The thirst for increased battery energy density will benefit the whole world!

  • Looking forward to seeing Bjorn road test this! 1000Km truck challenge?

  • It only means that the obsolete fossil fueled equipments are being phased out quicker than we realize. Nowadays there's even heavy construction machinery like grader, backhoe, crane, forklift, and many more that are being powered by batteries. Here's example videos of electric powered equipments electric grader: nolong.info/show/hb-cb5qjZLWGaI0/video.html John Deere electric tractor: nolong.info/show/hbCBsICKo859ip8/video.html CASE electric backhoe / loader: nolong.info/show/f96KkYd4raWKrac/video.html

  • Cybertruck has 100kWh battery with 240mile range, claimed. How come a Volvo truck for the city needs 200kWh?

    • Your comparison makes as much sense as comparing an econobox to a Ferrari

    • Because these Volvos are hauling more weight around. A similar truck in Canada has a Gross Vehicle Weight of 24,300 kgs (total weight allowed) with them weighing 9700-13000 kgs depending on options and configuration. So that is a lot more to move around then the cybertruck.

  • I’ve just seen the future and it’s in Norway 👏

  • Pretty cool seeing the trucks there. But as you mentioned in the long run it would be more beneficial for the companies to install their own chargers at the depot and charge at the depot between tours.

  • "Vibrator"

  • Bad luck, you have no driving license for the trucks to make a 1000Km-Challenge. Hope to see bananabox-Test like with e-Crafter :-)

  • Bjørn, Can we please get a test of that new el Proace in the background?

  • 5:54 And I thought my Zoe looks dirty \o/

  • it's great to see big trucks like these replacing the fossil versions. Good find Bjorn.

  • They should go and try Ionity chargers, they would have enough space and you could see what speed they get. Only if it's way more expensive, then shieeeet

  • uuuuhu - these trucks should go on Geilo-Test ....oh those germans

  • Still don't feel like getting your truck driver's license? Love to see the Geilo test ;-)

  • Well, you have seen nothing yet...350 kW till the end: nolong.info/show/eaiKbpCgnZp_eHU/video.html

  • You should really test a Model 3 with LFP battery's. There's a lot problems... Nicht good for Tesla reputation😔😕

    • Did you hear something about that in Norway? BMS issues and Coldgate

  • yes, Bjorn, we need a 1000 km challenge in the Volvo big rig when you can :)

  • This is so cool

  • Hej Björn, you told something about big lorry? The game will be changed soon and Volvo will have all the range electric models as well, see here: www.volvotrucks.com/en-en/news-stories/press-releases/2020/nov/volvo-trucks-launches-a-complete-range-of-electric-trucks-starting-in-europe-in-2021.html

  • I would like to hear those electric trucks driving. How quiet is it? The future is electric and I like it. Thanks Bjørn for all this qualitity content

  • Bjørn, when possible hope you will be able to take a Battery ferry trip. Almost 100 ferries now powered by batteries in Norway. Also Horten - Moss with presently the largest all battery powered vessel in the world. Over 150 m in length.

    • Thanks, I will have a look. I am will try to catch up. So far I am at 2017. Fairly new to your channel ☺️

    • I made a video 5 years ago... nolong.info/show/mbpliKehpqp7m2g/video.html

  • @4:42 Vibrator. for the seat? hehehehe

  • What are the charging Prices per kwh in Euro ? At circle K?

    • Approx 0.48 EUR/kWh on the 150 kW chargers and 0.43 EUR/kWh on the 50 kW chargers. Many people also get 5-10% discount from different memberships.

  • the truck interior was surprisingly spartan.

    • All fleet rucks are like that, companies don't want to spend money on frivolous features that will likely just wear out or break anyway.

  • 0:24 truck driver teleporting from a HPC

  • Bjorn how long before they build chargers just for trucks ? Have you seen the new Charging service station in the UK ? Not far from where I live, its very cool, 1st all EV service station in the world by all accounts.

    • Tesla is actually already building spots for Semi and Cybertruck on new supercharger developments .. at least in the US ... Other companies really need to start and add more foresight.

  • Volvo actually promised an electric variant of its entire truck range in 2021! So the FH electric is not far away.

  • Please, check out the trucks. I'm really curious about this future.

  • The transition just got super real. Kudos Bjorn and Norway

  • When you get to go to the company, don't forget to ask about the Gross Vehicle Weights of their electric and diesel trucks along with the difference in hauling capacity. As an ex-driver here in Canada, I am curious to see how much payload is lost moving to electric. This is something that is never reported on with electric trucks, as less payload means more trucks needed or more trips needed to haul a similar amount.

  • 👍Verry intresting Video. Thank u for de sightview, Bjorn. Trucks are verry important to keep the country and the industry running. Good job Volvo.

  • When you get to have a test drive will you do the Cabin run plus sleep over 😁

  • I’m looking forward to seeing electrical trucks in Denmark. But unfortunately we are still struggling with enough ultra fast chargers. OK benzin are starting building UFC’s and Circle K also. Hopefully many more will be build this year.

  • Great Video Björn. How great to see that these trucks really work. Future in Norway.

  • Brilliant,it would be good if the company with the trucks let’s you go out for the day with them.👍🇬🇧

  • All they hype about the Tesla Semi while Volvo already has electric trucks on the road! Is that a dump truck?

    • Not comparable at all. Tesla Semi has 3-4x more battery capacity.

  • Wonder how much weight they carry for how far, how that compares to regular trucks doing the same job.

  • Yes, it's great.

  • Satisfied with daily dose of Norwegian EV porn. 👍 😅
