  • "Hopefully get it up quick." hehehehehe

  • Stay Warm Bjorn.

  • ....nein, go away Helga... that's funny

  • What's red fan next to battery

  • Why can’t you drive in Eco at least and get longer range by 20% at least.

  • Helga don't like cold.

  • Borrow some crashtest dummies and fill up the car with them.

  • this car must be great for taxi in cities

  • I really like your style in this video. Don't change a thing.

  • Tritium always the best ! Fair Dinkum Aussie Stuff !

  • every time he uses a german word, it sounds he wants to invade a country

  • It's by far the biggest and roomiest and one of the most luxurious tested here, and in the worst driving conditions of freezing winter - it's really a good score.

  • Hey bjorn, can you include some prices in your next video please? I have just looked at trying to buy the eqv and the price in the uk(if you can order one) Is £78000! A touch on the high side for a small time builder like me!

  • R@13:03, “its a big ass car....” Newton Law: a mass in motion stays in motion unless disturbed by another force. Possibly explanation for high energy consumption: Big Ass MB EQV aerodynamic drag is horrendous or has high friction tires. Alternatively, EQC’s inefficiency is due to crappy powertrain engineering. Most likely the later.

  • Imagine if you carry 7 people and luggage, how much higher the consumption will be..

  • Heeeeey Wassup? Best EV content on the tube!

  • Do you plan to camp in that aircarrier?

  • Model 3 takes up to 250 kW, EQV might take 300 kW. Not really great, 110 kW for a big van and big battery. 1.1 C max.

  • Did you heat-up all zones of the van or just the driver zone ?

  • why don't we get these here?

  • Oh no, a bleeding charger

  • Kaputt? Where is my Tesla? 😜

  • 3:02min "go away Helga" 😂

  • This is not a family car. Families can't afford this car and children will trash all the unnecessary luxury. So even if you could afford it you will be broke afterwards...

  • 👍

  • Chargecost is brutal on fastcharger

  • nolong.info/show/deCcioWGgbWraas/video.html

  • You can open the rear window separately from the hatch.

  • What does the red fan symbol on the dash when charging mean? Just noticed wasn't always red. Maybe a overheat indication

    • I guess it means the heater is on and not just the fan

  • Temp -15C, Notes : Nice Weather.

    • Temperature doesn't define weather :-)

  • Nein Helga😂😂

  • I lost it at when he found "schmnutz" on inner door panel :D:D:D

  • what the heck is that hook in the trunk

  • I don’t know where the quoted 100kWh stems from, but Mercedes mentions 90kWH usable capacity on its website (I checked the norwegian website). For those who need more luggage space, there is variant with longer wheelbase available, WLTP range is 1km less so that’s no reason to go for the shorter variant.

  • "-15C: Nice Weather" lol

  • Opened the heavy electric sidedoor and trunk: 99 kWh/100 km 😅

    • In reality, consumption while parked approaches infinity/100km ;)

  • You know that the reviewer is a Norwegian when he claims that -21 is "Nice weather" :-D

  • Driving 3 hour and charging 3 hours ;) Nicht gut ;)

  • What would be the consumption with 7 passengers inside or fully loaded. Would be interesting to see.

    • Shouldn’t really add much energy consumption because it’s an EV so it can regen while slowing and so added weight really doesn’t have as big of an impact as on fossil car!

  • You want to silence the woman? Oh well....

  • 00:45 That's what she said. LOL.

  • "Nein, go away Helga!"

  • OH NO ! You have pissed off Helga.

  • I love the random german words, it sounds so funny :D

  • ROLF fifty NEIN! @ 10:20

  • The car will preheat the battery when a chargingstation is set as a destination on the navigation, it seems like a regular petrol station was set as the destination and then the car will not preheat the battery. it is a different icon on the navigation for the chargingstation then the regular petrol station. Maybe the Mercedes Me charing services wasn't activated on the car? And to "wake" up the instrumentcluster display to show the charging status you only need to push the "ok" button on the left side on the steering wheel, the display will stay on if you haven't open the door after you have turned the key on/off.

  • I am guessing why Mercedes does not show km/h in charging information uh?

  • If Mercedes didn't change it from older models, interior screens keep awake much longer if you don't take the key out of the ignition, even in the off position 😉

  • It says "traffic announce volume increase 3/10" in the audio settings. Maybe that has something to do with voice turning back up?

  • I looks like a 10 year old Chrysler mini van.

  • I would say that the fundamental battery management and drive performance is not up to 2021 expectations. If this was 2015-16 I'd probably be very impressed. But it isn't. We're 5-6 years down the EVolutionary road. This is what happens when you hedge at getting into the EV technology properly. And Daimler have been around electric vehicles for a decade or more. They even exchanged money and tech with Tesla, way back. But the time spent doesn't seem to have rubbed onto this car.

    • No Tesla comes close to this Mercedes van in terms of practicality, roomyness and luxury. Basically, not comparable at all.

  • This consumption makes this car more or less useless. Holy fuck. Did Daimler already lost all good engineers to Tesla? A consumption of 250 W/km should be the MINIMUM target.

  • Poor EQV, has to do all the heavy duty work at -15 degress. I'm wondering how it looks with 10-15 degrees if you don't have to heat up a whole barn of air :)

  • poor Mercedes

  • Helga? Isn‘t this the woman of Hägar the Horrible?

  • Hi Björn, it's a great test, since it's a Van which is business - we have many of them in the region - ICE - if the lease is up and they go to EV it will make a big difference. So thank you for showing it. PS: Staying over night will be best fun I hope - you can even rent it out with Air BNB

  • Consumption par seat is a good metrics for Vans, good finding!!!

  • *Einfach geilo* 😎🤟

  • Tritium charger with an issue, must be sunshine .

  • gas pumps never go kaputt

  • “Go away Helga”

    • "Car is moody" -> well of course it is, hello Helga.

  • Its sad they used the old Mercedes interior. The new interior is so much better.

  • I keep thinking you work at Sainsburys in the UK with that coat you always wear lol

  • i need this EV as a caming car- is it god for

    • camping? don't think so. It's already quite heavy. If you want to convert it to a camper van that would be too much weight I think

    • Don't came in your car

  • Can you set charging level ?

  • 100 kw battery weighs 500 kg, right? Dead weight even driving alone. Something does not add up with this EV technology!!!

    • @Harsimran Bansal Afaik without battery the Taycan is not crash proof, so Tesla is not alone in constructing it as integral element. jalopnik.com/an-extremely-detailed-look-at-the-porsche-taycans-engin-1837802533

    • EVs' electric motors make great sense BUT the electricity 'tanks' ie batteries do not! What could be the solution for this?

    • It’s not only the weight of the battery thats the problem it’s also the fact that right now EVs are designed in such a way that the battery is negative weight. Which means it needs extra structure on the car just to hold the battery. Teslas new “structural” battery will change this and the battery will not require extra structure, in fact it’ll reduce structure because the pack is the load bearing member.

    • Luckily the technology is improving quite fast. I guess we will see Model Y from Giga Berlin with a weight near to ICE cars.

    • I don't think battery technology is at 200 Wh per kg yet.

  • 4:39 you forgot to erase that tyre print 😅

  • Geilomat!

  • Looking forward to the direct comparison with the peugeot/citroen/toyota conterpart.

  • A thirsty vehicle needs very fast charging to make it viable.

    • @Keith Ware yes that's a good point, although it should not make such a huge difference if it's rolling, guess the cold is having a bigger impact. This is a huge thing, we call it a "Schrankwand" and the CW is accordingly very high.

    • @Bavarian Car Enthusiast yes I agree, but I would be interested in the consumption with all the seats occupied and loaded with luggage.

    • that´s relativ - as Björn said, divided by the number of seats it's quite good. It's a real people mover - don't think many will buy it private for the family

  • When Helga talks, press the mute key on the steering wheel. :) But only press mute WHILE she talks. Cool video as usual: :)

    • too simple 😆

    • @alfrredd That's right 😀

    • @A C I like it, It's funnier this way

    • You can always see that his tests are less professional.

  • this van will have much better range if driving at low speeds and not on highway

    • @Kristofer Olsson I think a model 3 would go a bit more than 180km if it had a 100kw battery

    • Like every other EV out there.

  • Do the same test with the EQC :-)

  • It's not a car.

  • On a 1.5х speed by default the table must be shown a little bit longer. Pls consider this. Also for this ev van it's good to know it's max consumption under max allowed load (not just empty banana boxes) in this cold weather.

    • @Danne89 his eyes are open now. LOL

    • @Danne89 wow, I didn't know that. You ve opened my eyes!

    • Just pause the video to read the table if you watch at 1.5 speed.

  • That gear selector look a bit familiar if you know what I mean. All jokes aside I know Tesla uses the same bin part but just funny actually seeing it in the wild

  • In the navi menu where you enter where you want to drive, you'll see a set of icons, if you find the speaker icon with a line over it, click on it. This is the button you need to shut up "Helga", the navigation lady.

  • You actually managed to set "Helga" to 0/85 in the last try where you gave up. It saved when you clicked out of the menu and showed 0.

    • I've also noticed that. It seems that solution is to tell her to shut up and then exit that setting fast before she talks back. ;)

  • And they wonder why the only EVs that are percieved as compelling are Teslas...

    • @Gentle mon We're just in the transition to EV's. Developing a completely new fully electric VAN wouldn't be worth the effort for Mercedes right now. Since this VAN will not be bought that often. Wait a few years, new platforms will come.

    • @marcel151 thats what i was trying to express with my comment. Other car makers dont really try to make a decent EV, nevermind to care for charging infrastructure. Not going to hate on Mercedes, they have really good built quality etc but thats like taking a Nokia 8510, which was great at that time, and trying to make a smartphone with its platform. For most cases it would be better to opt out for the fossil version. Tesla is pushing the envelope and try to make their Cars better than fossil cars (and still be worse in some points but imo they are the only EVs that outweigh the benefits in most use cases in comparison to gas cars) just my two cents, might be wrong, love my personal Model 3 btw

    • No Tesla comes close to this in terms of practicality, roomyness and luxury. Basically, not comparable.

    • @marcel151 yes, although it’s a really good EV for certain use cases, like bjorn doing the airport shuttle!

    • Try to get a Tesla with that storage space. The cars are not comparable, the car is high as a bus and way heavier than a Model X for example. Also, the EQV is based on a fossil car and not very optimised for electric driving, as Bjørn also said in this video.

  • You are uploading so many Videos lately i Love it!!!

  • NEARLY

  • Bjørn reminds me of DJ Hans Oberlander from radio SF-UR

  • Really nice test! I love all your videos

  • With the high consumption, what would the mileage cost be like charging along the road in NOK?

    • @Nord Mann you are 100% right, mine 1st EV was MB250e, much smaller car bu extremely thirsty on winter and completely useless on highway due to lack of rapid charging port. That EQV could have heat pump, and some Cx improvement to reduce consumption. But maybe Germans doing all it on purpose so customers are not have point to buy EV. This is pain in ass for them... For all automotive world if you know what I mean 😣

    • @jazdan223 all this I already know. I’ve been commuting with my EV and fast charging for months now. Mine uses 2,5kWh pr 10km and is therefore cheaper to run than my previous fossile car. But an EQV isn’t a car for daily errands. It’s too big for that. It’s a car for long trips primarily and then the high consumption makes it for specially interested people only as a V250CDI would be much cheaper to run.

    • @Nord Mann and they are cheaper to run. You not going to restaurant everyday, right? You are eating at home because it is cheaper I assume. Same with a car, if you are using home or work charging normally then it is significant difference... If you drive somewhere from time to time, and charge with same cost as petrol you not loosing anything. That is mine point and Herr Bjørn 😁 If it not fit for you, forget EVs, drive and enjoy fossil simplicity.

    • @Stig Lau yes, it’s not only about economy, since the EV is better to drive in most instances than ICE, but it can’t be more expensive to use. Then people will stay with their ICE.

    • @jazdan223 missing the point. EV’s need to be cheaper to run than ICE if people are to bother with them.

  • Yey
